World War I Fly In

DAWN PATROL is an IMAA and AMA sanctioned non-competition event.  Aircraft must be 1939 or earlier, and must meet IMAA size and safety requirements; an on-site inspection (standard IMAA) is performed. There is a nominal entry fee; sanitation facilities are on-site. Lunch and drinks can be purchased at the event. For more info contact:

Panoramic view of DAWN PATROL 2000. As you can see,
there was a good turnout of aircraft as well as spectators.
All eyes are cast upward as Giant World War I aircraft take to the sky!

A 1/4 scale iteration of an Art Chester Jeep toutches down for a nice landing; carrying the tail! This was kit-bashed from an Ace 4-120 monoplane.

Gus Deltwas shows us his 1/4 scale SE5a. Gus hails from Lawrence MA and has made it to every one of our DAWN PATROL meets to date! The SE5 uses a Quadra 35 for power.

Dave Johnson of Vernon CT built this Albatross D III using the colors of Werner Voss. The 18 pound, 84" Albatross contains lots of detail and uses a US41 powerplant.

David Wheeler brougt this nice Flair Fokker DR-1. It has a top wingspan of 74" and weighs just 14 pounds with an OS .91 two cycle engine. This plane flew VERY nicely!

Ray Hinds shows his Fokker E-III Eindekker. With a weight of 16 pounds, the Zenoah G-23 powers it realistically. Wingspan is 100" and the plane features scale wing warping and a pilot who can drop a bomb!
